  I have observed that in unwanted cameras, specialized sensors help
  to maintain focus automatically. The actual sensors of some cameras change in contrast, while others
  work with a beam involving infra-red (IR) light, particularly in low
  lighting. Higher specification cameras often use a combination of both systems and may have Face Priority AF where
  the camera can 'See' a face while focusing only upon that.
